Tips and Tricks for Talking to Famous People

We’ve all wondered what it would be like to meet our favorite celebrity. Someone we’ve watched on TV or cheered for in an intense game. I’m sure we’ve also seen those TikToks of people describing their interactions with celebrities, some good and some bad. Before I joined the myFanPark team, I worked regularly with celebrities in the music world, and I've seen a lot of fan interactions. So, whether it’s a live call on myFanPark, a DM, or an in person meeting, I’ve got a few tips and tricks for talking to the celebrities of our society.
Be Respectful.
People that are famous are truly just like us. If there’s been a rumor or a scandal recently, don’t ask about it. They’ll most likely skirt around the question anyways and it will make the rest of your conversation a little awkward. Also, if they're out in public just being a human, don't interrupt their dinner or their conversation. Catch them after, they will be more inclined to talk to you.
Plan ahead.
Okay, so you’ve booked your call. If you have questions, write them down. When you meet a person who means a lot to you it can be hard to keep your mind focused. Writing down your questions will help you keep your cool and give you a reminder if your mind goes blank.
Ask different questions.
The honest truth is, if you ask someone a question they get all the time, you’re probably going to get the same answer they always give, and you can probably find the answer on the internet. Obviously don’t ask them to spoil their upcoming projects, but ask them a real question you’ve always wanted to know. I promise, they will be more engaged and enjoy the refreshing change.
Be admirable, not critical.
If you’re a fan of their work or their sport, let them know! Don’t say “but I wasn’t a fan of *insert moment*”, or “remember when you blew that game”. Tell them you admired their role, or their charity, keep it positive and they’ll be more engaged in the conversation.
Let them know how much they mean to you.
We love these people because they’ve changed our lives for the better. Whether you watched them from the beginning in their sport, saw them publicly overcome a difficult circumstance, or act in a role that you connected with. Everyone likes to know they’ve made a difference, let them know why they’ve made a difference to you.
Don’t Stress!!!
Celebrities are just like us, and I PROMISE they are far more normal than you realize. It may be nerve wracking, but you’ve got this!!
